Light from a broken heart

A view of the Loboc River in Bohol Philippines taken last November 2010. There’s something melancholic and peaceful and hopeful about it. Just like the poem I wrote for a broken hearted girl last February 2011. (OR I’m just imagining the connections. Oh well. ^^)

Light from a broken heart

Her broken heart lets the goodness shine through from within

She’s wounded and sorrowed and the pain sips in

Like an assault to her muscles, she can’t even form a smile

Her senses are failing her, it’s been like this for a while.

But her broken heart lets the goodness shine through from within

Despite the turmoil inside her dignity is so striking, and it’s blinding.

I’ve often wondered how a broken glass manages to stay pretty still.

Now I know that to break is not to waste but to renew and reveal.

From a broken heart that lets the goodness shine through from within,

Her radiant soul is showering the people around her with love

And she proves them wrong when they say she can’t love anymore

Because she can, she does, and she will, forevermore.
